How is your day going so far?
I’m touring right now for my stand-up comedy all over the country. So far I did the Tampa Improv Comedy Center, Miami Improv, and I will be performing in Hollywood, Denver, Pittsburgh and Chicago. I am going to be touring till the end of the year.
How would you describe your experience as a comedian?
Being in stand up comedy is kind of like a men’s world, so it is interesting being a girl. Traveling can be exhausting but it is fun meeting different people at my shows. With the success of the You Tube Video Nail Salon a lot of people just come in to my show in huge groups to have a good time. It is just fun time. I’m 45 minutes to an hour on stage and I do include the nail lady because this how people first heard of me. They all want to see it, so if I won’t do the Nail Salon bit they will start shouting it out.
What is the best part about being a comedian?
To be able to write my own material and perform in front of people, and the validation of people laughing at something you have thought of.
Which female comedians do you look up to?
Ellen DeGeneres is my favorite. I love her natural ability to make people laugh, without even trying. As far as acting, I love Sandra Bullock.
How do you keep your hair so beautiful?
I come from a family of hair stylists, my mom, my aunt, my uncle and my cousin. I’m blessed with amazing shampoos and conditioners and free hair cuts of course. Right now in my shower I have at least 5 different shampoos and conditioners because I can’t use the same one over and over. I have to rotate from KMS to Biolage. Redken has my favorite clarifying shampoo. I clarify shampoo my hair once in every 3 days because my hair is too oily. This clarifies my hair from any build up.
What are some of your favorite skincare products?
I’m now using a Japanese skincare line called: Noevir, I use their 99 Skin Care Line and it’s working well for me. Everything from their Deep Cleansing Massage Gel to their Gentle Foaming Cleanser and toner. You can buy their products on line at noevirusa.com.
What mascara do you use?
I don’t have a particular mascara that I use, I use a lengthening and volumizing mascara because I have really short lashes.
What is the best lip gloss you ever owned?
My favorite lip gloss was by MAC, it’s called: Chroma Camel and they discontinued it. I use a lot of MAC products. Right now I use MAC Tinted Lipglass in Prrr.
What is your signature fragrance?
I like fresh shower scented perfumes like Issey Miyake. And the summer edition of Cool Water called: Cool Water Summer Fizz. It is so fresh, light, just beautiful scent. Right now I’m using a perfume by MAC called: Turquatic. I love it, it is fresh, not florally or spicy.
Which beauty product you will always find in my purse?
Oil blotting tissues. I have oily skin and I don’t like to be shiny at all. I heard on the Tyra Banks show that toilet seat covers on the bathroom are like oil blotting tissues. It is the same kind of paper. So if for some reason I don’t have a purse on me I will go to a public restroom and rip off a piece of a toilet seat cover to blot my skin.
How do you manage to carry all your beauty products when you travel?
I pack so much stuff, I have a huge suitcase with me just for the weekend. I was recently introduced to travel size containers where you can put your skin care products in, otherwise I was taking everything with me.
What is your number one beauty secret?
Sleep.
Which celebrities do you find most beautiful?
Jennifer Lopez, Scarlett Johansson, and Angelina Jolie.
How would you describe your personal style?
I am very much a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl and I love tennis shoes. I’m very casual. I don’t like wearing heals mainly because I don’t know how to walk in them and they hurt my feet, and I like to be comfortable. So I always wear cute denim a cute top and some funky shoes. I love creative recreation Pumas, Converse, and Nike. I’m a tennis shoe fanatic.
What city do you love the most?
I have been doing a lot of traveling lately. I had great time in New York, Miami, Houston, and San Francisco. When it comes down to it, I’m a California girl at heart. If I had to pick one place to live for the rest of my life it would be someplace in California, maybe San Diego. There is always something going on in San Diego, or in San Jose with all my family.
What one or two things some people may not know about you?
I only weigh about 105 pounds and I eat like I’m a full grown man. I eat so much food. People always ask me if I eat, and I say I do I just don’t know where it all goes. Also, I don’t eat fruit because the texture makes me gag.
Do you miss cheerleading for the Oakland Raiders?
No. I don’t miss it. I enjoyed my time. Sometimes I miss cheering competitively like in College like on ESPN.
What’s next for Anjelah?
In the future I would like to get involved in so many things. I love film and television, romantic comedies, action films and drama. I love it all. I did Mad TV last season, it was really good time. Now I’m auditioning for film and television projects and touring in between. I don’t really know what’s next for me but I’m excited about it. I know that there is so much opportunity out there. Things are just beginning for me, and I’m just excited about what god has in store for me next. |
