Lindsay Davenport is a world famous tennis champion. In this interview. Lindsay Davenport talks about one of the most memorable moments in her tennis career, why she became interested in Juvederm dermal fillers, how did Juverderm made a difference in her skin’s appearance, her toughest tennis opponent ever, and plans for the future.

As a world famous tennis champion you don’t need much introduction. What have been some of your most memorable moments of your career?
I’d say winning a gold medal in ’96 in Atlanta and the US Open in ’98.

How did you get interested in skincare, particularly, JUVÉDERM dermal fillers?
I started using JUVÉDERM(tm) after my son was born. We had a lot of pictures of us from the hospital and the first few months of his life. While looking at the pictures, I realized that my skin had lost a lot of its bounce, and there were so many more wrinkles! At that point, I decided to make an appointment with my dermatologist.

The treatment was quick with minimal downtime, and the results were instant! The best part is that everyone notices I look great, but no one knows why. I think it is because JUVÉDERM(tm) creates a smooth and natural look that helps me appear refreshed and rejuvenated without looking like I had something done. For me, it’s a win-win!

How is JUVÉDERM different from other dermal fillers and BOTOX Cosmetic?
This is something I asked my dermatologist, he explained that JUVÉDERM(tm) contains hyaluronic acid and is injected into wrinkles and folds such as the "parentheses" which appeared from my nose to my mouth. It instantly added volume to this area and minimized the appearance of these lines. And compared to other hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, Juvéderm is the only one FDA approved to last up to one year.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is different, my dermatologist explained that it relaxes the underlying muscles to diminish the appearance of wrinkles, and is most often used for the vertical lines between the brows which appear as an "11" and can make you look tired and stressed.

“Athletes are used to being disciplined and organized, which definitely helps keep my life running smoothly when I’m busy.”

How do you feel JUVÉDERM(tm) changed the appearance of your skin?
While l also exercise and eat well, but there have been changes in my face as a result of getting older and sun exposure that my doctor assured me no amount of diet and exercise could fix. JUVÉDERM(tm) has made my skin look smooth and refreshed-just like I returned from a long vacation! I feel like my face now matches how my body looks and how I feel inside.

What advice can you give to women who are considering JUVÉDERM(tm) for the first time?
First, it’s important to see an aesthetically-trained physician and make sure you feel comfortable with the person that is administering the treatment. I spent a lot of time speaking with my dermatologist about what is best for my skin. Also, be excited! The results are fantastic!

For some women dermal fillers such as JUVÉDERM(tm) are considered ‘high maintenance.’ What are your thoughts?
I’d disagree. Juvederm has to be administered only once a year and takes less than ten minutes in your physician’s office. The time commitment is so minimal and the results are definitely worth it!

What compelled you to join the JUVÉDERM(tm) Decades of Smooth(tm) campaign?

I am supporting the Decades of Smooth(tm) campaign because I want to help educate women and men about safe and effective aesthetic treatment options they have available to them and stress the importance of seeing a trained doctor for treatment.

How does your beauty regimen reflect your personality?
I’ve always been a big believer in keeping it simple. A gentle face wash, a good moisturizer, lots of sunscreen and – since turning 30 – I have started using eye cream. I’m never without Neutrogena sunscreen and Kiehls lip balm.

How have some of the disciplines you learned as tennis champions translated into your day to day lives, especially as a mother?
Athletes are used to being disciplined and organized, which definitely helps keep my life running smoothly when I’m busy.

Who was your toughest opponent in your entire tennis career?
I’ve had a few over my career. I’d say Steffi Graf, Martina Hinges and the Williams Sisters.

What other passions do you have besides tennis?
Aside from tennis, my passions are my family and also being healthy (working out, eating well and getting sleep).

What’s next for Lindsay Davenport?
There is a lot going on. I’m playing in Wimbledon later this month and then in July I’ll be playing at the East West Bank Classic in Los Angeles, followed by the Olympics and the US Open in August. It would be great to see your readers at the Decades of Smooth booth at the East West Bank Classic and US Open. Tracy and I will be signing autographs in the booth at various times. When we aren’t there, your readers will have the opportunity to receive a free facial consultation for treatment with Juvéderm(tm) following the tournament.
