How was the concept for Aqua Tan born?
The market desperately needed a good self tanner that looked natural, felt natural and was good for your skin. I stopped using tanning beds for a tan after getting skin cancer and couldn’t find a self tanner I wanted to use, especially on my face. So, I traveled around Europe and met with the top chemists and together we developed Aqua Tan Self Tanning Treatment for faces. It is refreshing and transforming like water and it is water based, so the name Aqua Tan seemed a perfect fit.

Your products are formulated with “sacred water”, what does this mean to our skin?
We add a splash of water from a sacred shrine in Lourdes, France that is world renowned for its healing powers. It’s mineral contents are good for your skin and it adds a blessing to your spirit if you are open to it.

Aqua Tan Self Tanning Spray for Faces is 100% natural and loaded with skin rejuvenating and nourishing ingredients like Awapuhi, Avocado, Papaya, Cucumber and Aloe Vera Extracts. Protecting your skin from free radicals found in the environment is just as important. How did you come up with such beautiful product packaging?
Aqua Tan wanted to introduce luxury packaging to the self tanning category. We wanted to set the bar. We wanted something worthy of our formula. So we selected luminescent cobalt blue bottles reminiscent of the Aegean Sea to market our water based solution. The silver fine mist sprayer ensured an even application. The rich silver cap and base provided the right accents. The sleek, nautical packaging appeals to men and women as does the formula.

Which products do you recommend to someone who never used Aqua Tan before?
The nice thing about Aqua Tan Self Tanners is that they deliver very natural looking tans, so even fair skinned clients can gradually build a darker tan. The line was developed to build a custom tan, always looking natural.

How did the idea to first launch Aqua Tan at the 2003 Cannes Film Festival come about?
The Cannes Film Festival is the quintessential venue for beauty and fashion and the French Riviera is where tanning first became a fashion statement. Once we had developed a self tanner that catered to the most discriminating jet set clientele, we found it fitting to return to these beaches with a healthy tanning alternative.

What is new this year with Aqua Tan?
We have added a Gentle Purifying Gelee that gently exfoliates the skin for a polished glow and prepares the skin for a flawless self tan.
