Kattia Solano is the owner of the popular Butterfly Studio Salon in New York City. I have always wanted a salon that has a healthy, fun environment for staff and clients to enjoy. We have a no ego rule. We make all decisions as a group and are inspired through education in all parts of our lives. What is your role at the Butterfly Studio Salon?
I’m there to support and inspire my team. I love to see my clients make changes and to create new looks . I’m all about transformation and look forward to what life has to offer.
I love Butterflies! They represent new beings and transformation. I thought it would be a name that makes someone feel good when they say it. I never met anyone that does not like Butterflies!

It’s a culture that is friendly, fun and modern. You will receive the best quality work and the most personalized salon experience possible.
We are about sexy hair for everyone. We strongly believe in educating our clients with the proper ways to take care of their hair at home. Treatments are also frequently requested, they are the only way to keep hair looking beautiful.
Consistency is key. We treat everyone as if it were their first time visit. Our clients are the salon’s clients. We want the client to feel comfortable seeing anyone they want at any time. It’s always about putting the client first.
Allure has always been great to us. The haircut is about learning to love your texture, to give you versatility and sexy movement .
I love my tools, it’s important to find the best quality. I love our Blue brushes, they are great to hold and they last a life time. As for products, at the moment I’m a big fan of Shu-Uemura Silk Oil and Iron Design.
It all starts in the shower, a good shampoo and conditioner are so important. Use the right products and tools. Try to get salon treatments and haircuts into your schedule at least every 6-8 weeks, it’s all about maintenance.
Dedication and determination are essential to being at the top of any industry. Good things in life never come easy. Work hard and don't ever let anyone take your dreams from you.

I’m currently working on developing my own line of products that are inspired by all the organic rituals I grew up with, and the natural beauty of Costa Rica.
