When did your interest in hair design begin?
I guess it was always what I wanted to do – I don’t remember ever wanting to do anything else. As a child I would always tell all the adults around me, “When I grow up I am going to do your hair!”

What was your biggest break as a professional hair stylist?
My biggest break was doing “La Linzd” (Lidnsay Lohan). After doing her hair, I gained a lot of exposure and popularity – and it allowed me to service other celebrities.

You are ghd’s Media Ambassador. What‘s involved in this position?
As ghd’s Media Ambassador it is my responsibility to communicate with all of the press and media about what ghd is involved in as well as what the latest trends are.

Which ghd products do you recommend for that perfect blow-out?
For a perfect blowout, I suggest starting off with ghd’s Thermal Protector to ensure protection during heat styling, Smoothing Balm to make the hair smooth and frizz free, and finally finishing with Reflection Spray for that mirror finish.

As the owner of Salon Oh in Atlantic City New Jersey and your busy schedule, can we still find you there?
Yes! When I’m not on the road or on location, you can definitely find me there… I try to work in the salon as much as I can because it’s important for me to remain hands-on and bring back what I gather in my travels.

What hair styles are you most known for?
I try to create hairstyles that are very versatile and that allow you to wear them in several ways. I guess I’m most known for creating hair styles that allow you to “never be the same girl twice.”

Where do you find the inspiration for a new hairstyle?
Everywhere!!! Anywhere!!! I love looking at nature, as well as art and architecture!!! Even hairstyles from the past are an inspiration because they allow themselves to be updated!!!

What is your number one hair care tip?
My number one hair care tip is: invest in good hair products and visit your hairstylist frequently. Don’t be afraid of asking your hairstylist questions – that is part of their craft.

What are some of you most memorable celebrity collaborations?
My most memorable celebrity collaboration would have to be with Jaime Pressly for her J’aime Collection during LA Fashion Week. The show had great energy and the setting at The Hollywood Roosevelt was phenomenal.

What is the most enjoyable part of your job?
Being able to change peoples’ lives and creating trends that individuals follow.

What other passions do you have besides your work?
Music is a huge motivator in my life. From listening to writing songs, music (all types) is a passion of mine.

What’s next for Omar Lopez?
World domination!!! I want “Omar Lopez” to be a household name. I want to be the next “Ken Paves”, “Oscar Blandi” or “Sally Hershberger”.
